About AIRE
The AI Risk Explorer (AIRE) is an online platform that monitors large-scale AI risks across four domains: cyber offense, biological risk, loss of control, and manipulation. By collating evidence on AI capabilities, harms, and mitigations, AIRE provides policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and journalists with continuous situational awareness of the evolving AI risk landscape. Our platform functions as an epistemic infrastructure, producing structured datasets and analytical intelligence that surface underreported evidence, identify emerging risk patterns, and support more informed decision-making.

Through strategic outreach and relationship-building, you'll help ensure that important evidence informs decision-making on AI risk.
What you'll do
Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead engagement with stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, journalists, and industry.
- Lead communications with decision-makers and researchers — hosting briefings, workshops, and walkthroughs to communicate findings, developing partnerships with relevant agencies, and supporting external research projects with AIRE's datasets and analytical products.
- Own and maintain a CRM to track relationships with stakeholders across the policy, research, and media ecosystem.
- Maintain relationships with journalists to increase AIRE's media presence and ensure accurate coverage of AI risk developments.
- Contribute to requests for information, risk briefings, and other ad hoc documents based on AIRE's risk findings.
- Represent AIRE in conferences and other professional contexts as organizational presence warrants.
Public Communications
- Own AIRE's public communications strategy and grow the reach of its publications across key channels.
- Manage AIRE's social media presence across platforms including X and LinkedIn, using them to communicate releases, research findings, and developments in the AI risk landscape.
- Produce and distribute public-facing articles through channels such as Substack, including periodic digests of the AI risk landscape and long-form analyses of relevant developments.
- Identify opportunities to package AIRE's research into products, briefings, visualizations, and other formats that maximize usefulness for different audiences.
- Design and execute AIRE's communications strategy to maximize reach, including KPIs, a content calendar, editorial planning, distribution strategy, and ongoing evaluation of impact.
- Develop an editorial strategy that ensures AIRE's communications remain rigorous, transparent, evidence-based, and appropriate for different audiences.
- Continuously improve AIRE's communications playbook based on audience feedback, performance metrics, and evolving organizational priorities.
Who we're looking for
Required
- Demonstrated experience engaging senior stakeholders (e.g., policymakers, executives, researchers, and other experts), including the ability to represent an organization's work credibly in high-stakes settings.
- Experience managing organizational communications functions, including social media channels targeting professional audiences.
- Ability to write about complex technical issues in a wide variety of formats, adapted to audiences with different levels of expertise.
- Strong knowledge of the frontier AI ecosystem, including model capabilities and behavior, policy and industry developments, and emerging AI risks. Familiarity with the risk categories we cover — cyber offense, biological risk, loss of control, and manipulation — is particularly valued.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, flexible, and expanding team environment that rewards high proactivity and direct communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with CRM tools and managing stakeholder pipelines or contact databases.
- Existing relationships within the AI safety/governance community and adjacent ecosystems.
- Experience growing audiences for research organizations, think tanks, or policy-focused publications.
Working with the team
This is a new function within AIRE. You'll work closely with the Project Director and the Senior Risk Analyst to ensure your work aligns with the project's priorities and research. Working hours are generally flexible, with an expectation of at least two hours of daily overlap with the team's core collaboration hours (UTC+2 / UTC+3, depending on daylight saving time) to support timely communication. The role includes a weekly one-on-one with your supervisor and a weekly team alignment meeting. Outside of these expectations, work is generally performed asynchronously.
Contract type
The selected candidate will receive a 2-month independent contractor agreement. Subject to satisfactory performance, project needs, funding availability, and mutual agreement, this is expected to be followed by a 6-month agreement.
